What is a silk duvet?
A silk duvet is one in which the traditional feather or artificial lining has been replaced by silk. The silk may be encapsulated in either a silk or cotton shell.
The silk used in our silk duvets and pillows is exclusively organic Mulberry silk. The silk comes from silk cocoons of the silk worm, Bombyx Mori. It takes over 5000 cocoons to fill just a single one of the duvets we sell.
A silk duvet is particularly beneficial to anyone that suffers from allergies. They also provide superior temperature regulation and a wonderful feeling of luxury and well being.
Silk duvets weight?
As silk duvets have an incredible temperature regulating quality, we recommend for most of our customers, a duvet with 370gr. silk per square meter. This gives a total weight of 1036-1140gr. depending on the duvet length of 200 or 220cm. This duvet type will keep you warm and comfortable all through the winter, and unless you are very warm at night, will also be suitable for summer use.
Our summer duvets are well suited for those that suffer with severe overheating and offer optimal comfort for hot summer nights. A summer duvet is light enough to combat overheating, while being thick enough to prevent chilling on a mild summer night. The duvet contains 190gr. silk per square meter, giving a total weight of around 600gr.
